One of the featured courses, Our Driving Concern: Passenger Restraint, focuses on the simplest and most effective way vehicle occupants can protect themselves in a crash: wearing a seat belt.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belts reduce the risk of crash fatalities by 45% for front-seat occupants in passenger cars and by 60% in pickup trucks and other light trucks. Yet, in 2024, nearly half of passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes were not wearing seat belts.
